Q:  How old does my child need to be to get started?
A:  Although you can begin playing the Gracie Games with your child as early as 2 or 3 years old, in order to test for an official belt promotion, we require the child to be at least 4 years old.

Q:  I’ve never practiced martial arts, but I want to teach my child. How do I get started?
A:  Absolutely no experience is necessary to get started with the Gracie Bullyproof program. The first thing to do is to create a student profile so that you will get free access to the Parent Preparation Course. Once you watch that, you’ll be 100% ready to teach your son or daughter. Remember, if you have any questions along the way, about anything, post them in the forum and we will answer them as soon as we can.

Q:  How much do the lessons cost?
A:  When you visit the Curriculum section, you notice that much of the curriculum is free once you register as a student. You will also notice that there is a free sample of a Gracie Game in your lesson library when you sign up, so you can see how the lessons are generally formatted. You will have the option to purchase individual lessons for $6, or you can purchase an entire course (Gracie Games or Jr. Combatives) and get a 50% discount ($3 per lesson). Once a lesson is added to your library, you can view it whenever you want, forever.

Q:  What’s the difference between the Gracie Bullyproof DVD collection the online program, and why is the online course slightly more expensive?
A:  The video lessons that appear on the DVDs are EXACTLY the same as those that appear in the online Gracie Bullyproof course. The reason for the slight price differential is that you get more when you purchase the online course. The advantage of having the DVDs is that you can watch them anywhere, without an internet connection. The advantage of purchasing the course online is the access to interactive features, such as the chat room, which enables you to talk to other students viewing the same lesson in real time, and the Ask the Gracies feature, which enables you to ask lesson-specific questions from anywhere in the world and get answers straight from the Gracie Academy. Also, each of the online lessons comes with a detailed breakdown, in PDF format, that was specifically designed to be printed out and used to guide you through any training sessions that take place where there is no internet connection. Fortunately, we’ve priced the Gracie Bullyproof DVDs and the online course so low, that if you can’t make up your mind on which to choose, you can purchase both.

Q:  Can I share my online account with friends or family members?
A:  No, multiple users cannot log in to a single account at the same time. If we notice excessive attempts at simultaneous logins on a single account, we will suspect that the password is being shared, and the account will be terminated.

Q:  Where can I learn about the Gracie Diet?
A:  The Gracie Diet book, by Rorion Gracie, is being written and will be published in November 2010. Until then, you can learn about the Gracie Diet combination principles and food groups in Gracie Jiu-jitsu - The Master Text, by Helio Gracie (see store for details)

Q:  A local jiu-jitsu instructor claims to be trained by the Gracies. How do I know if he is legitimate?
A:  Many instructors claim to be affiliated with the Gracie Family when they actually are not. In order to preserve the integrity of the system, a school can only be accredited by the Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy after one or more of the instructors become certified to teach the official Gracie Academy curriculum. To see the complete list of Gracie Academy Certified Training Centers, please visit www.gracieacademy.com/training_centers.asp.
